H1b leaving country for few months

Hi,

This is my 4th year running on H1b visa (completing 4th year this Sept). Need to return to home country for at least 6-8 months, may be a year at the most. Plan to return to US after that on another H1b. Could somebody tell me what might be the challenges in the road ahead? Thank you

Nothing will be an issue with what you have mentioned.

It will become very difficult but possible. Most of the US employers prefer someone who is already residing in the US. You won't qualify for those jobs that require face-to-face interview.

You must find an employer who is willing to market you when you are in India. Once they secure you a position, you'll have to wait untill your new H1B is approved. Premium processing takes 2 weeks but can take upto 5 weeks if you get an RFE. If will take more time If you don't have a valid stamp. So you can see the challenges here.
