L1 to Stay in USA till F1is approved for L2

Hello,

 

I am on L1 visa and finishing my term very soon. I am filing I 539 for my child for change of status from L2 to L1 who is in High School. I have received I20 from a school. Our L1,L2 visas and I 94s are valid till next year.

 

Do I have to be present in US till F1 is approved or I can leave after filing I539.

You can leave after COS is filed (received by USCIS). Then your dependents no longer have to maintain their L2 status.
