gcseeker107 Posted June 1, 2015 Report Posted June 1, 2015 My current OPT is getting expired in around 1month. After initial 2 months of break I had always registered in my college the name of e-verified employers that I worked with. I have been getting training and marketing through e-verified companies, but they were not able to place me on any project. My offer letter from them had position as unpaid intership. In the meantime I also applied for entry level poistions independently and now I got job offer letter from more reputed e-verified company and about to join their office. The question is what should I do so that my OPT stem extension gets approved without issue? One thing is that Ihave to convince my new employer that I dont need sponsership to work and legelly authorized to work. Should I apply extension after joining the company or before? Another thing at present I dont know the e-verification number of the future employer. If I apply OPT extension from current employer with unpaid intership, they may become reluctant to support my perm extension as they may not give me paid job offer letter unless they place me. It is very delicate situation for me. If I apply after I join new employer, what are the chances that USCIS would ask details documentation from previous employers where I was unpaid intern? I only have offer letter and resignation emails from them. What can I do to support my application? Please advise!!
jairichi Posted June 1, 2015 Report Posted June 1, 2015 http://www.murthy.com/2013/11/25/unpaid-internships-on-f-1-opt-considered-unemployment/ Read the above link first and see with an attorney whether you qualify for an extension.
