Can continue to work while doing COS from h1b to H4 and EAD

Hi There, 

I am working for a employer who has sponsored my H1b. The h1b is valid till 2018. 

My spouse is on H1b and have I140 approved. 

Now as H4 EAD rule active, I want to change my status to H4 and EAD. As per USCIS FAQ, it seems I should be able to apply H4 COS and EAD at the same time. 

So if I apply for H4 COS and EAD, do I need to stop working for my employer? 

Or Is there any way I can continue working for my employer till my H4 and EAD gets approved? or Minimize the down time?
