Laid off while in H1B

Hi

 

I am currently on H1B status. My job is ending immediately and i have not found a new job/employer to transfer my H1B.  My spouse is currently in India and getting her L1 visa stamped. Can I go to India and transfer my visa status to L-2 and come again to US. And once found a new employer is it possible for me to change my status back to H1B again.

If you are laid off, the employer has to pay for your ticket back home.

If you get an L2 visa, you can of course come back here (on your own dime.)

And on L2, you can work. No need to change to H1.

Yes. Why dont you work on L2 EAD?

Yes. You can go back to india and change your status based on your spouse's approved L1 and enter to US. 

Yes. You can change your status back to H1b and you are already counted in a quote. 

You can also change your status to B2 and stay in the country.
