H1B Visa Stamping Interview Waiver Program

I am on H1B and planning to visit India. I am eligible for drop box procedure. However, my dependents (H4) are not eligibel for drop box or interview waiver program. Though I am eligible for drop box, can I attend the interivew in person along with my family members? Is is mandatory to use drop box procedure or it is up to my will?

 

Hope some one will be able to answer my question.

You may apply for DropBox if you want but is not a mandate.
