amirtha20 Posted May 21, 2015 Report Posted May 21, 2015 I am on H4 currently in the US, dependent on my spouse's H1B. I have obtained admission in a college for pursuing masters starting this fall. My course does not have the benefit of cost reduction due to me being on h4(fee is same whether i am a resident or not). Also my course has internship eligibility after 6 months into the course, so i will have to be on F1 or on H4 EAD soon. I intend to complete masters & obtain an employment. So have couple of questions regarding application for f1 or H4 EAD: a) Which is better F1 or H4 EAD? b) Since my field is a non STEM area, i am eligible for only 12 months of OPT. Since my course ends on April 16, will i be eligible to apply for H1B in april 1st week before my course ends? c) My husband's I 140 has been approved recently so if i file an application for change of status to F1 would it be rejected ? I understand that F1 has non immigration intent while GC application would reflect a immigration intent. Would appreciate some help on this at the earliest! Thanks in advance.
kavya05 Posted June 11, 2015 Report Posted June 11, 2015 Hi Amirtha20, I am kind of in a similar situation as yours and really very confused what to do...Did you figure out which option is better F1 or H4 EAD? which one are you preferring and why? I look forward to your response. Thanks!!
