kcallam Posted May 18, 2015 Report Posted May 18, 2015 I live in USA and my passport is about to expire and I am in the process of renewing it. It has Andhra Pradesh printed on it. Now that I am renewing it, should I put Telangana while filling out the renewal application form or Andhra pradesh as it is in my current passport? Filling it out as AP does not make sense because technically place does not exist in Andhra Pradesh. Filling it out as Telangana as an address change does not make sense because my physical location in India is not changed but the name of the state. I saw similar question but that was regarding new passport applications I guess. Please help clarifying this. What should I do?
jairichi Posted May 19, 2015 Report Posted May 19, 2015 In whichever state your permanent address is. Do not worry about what is in your current passport.
satya2k1 Posted May 19, 2015 Report Posted May 19, 2015 Good question,, I understand that you are from one of the places from TG state which use to be in AP. I am assuming that you are going to renew your passport in the USA. If that is the case, I recommend using TG as your state because that is official and I bet any Indian consulate already know about this. Moreover, technically speaking the physical location is NOW in TG not AP. Once you get your new passport, your old passport will be obsolete except any valid visas.
