cal_new2007 Posted May 14, 2015 Report Posted May 14, 2015 Hi All, I have questions about I T U in San Jose, CA. Is it any good? they say i can join in summer and get CPT on day 1. that would help me survive till next year H1b quota and try my luck again. Please advice? are there any other universities which will offer the same? any location is fine. Thanks
jairichi Posted May 14, 2015 Report Posted May 14, 2015 Google search and you will know a lot. Stay away from that university.
JoeF Posted May 14, 2015 Report Posted May 14, 2015 They are a fraud. Stay away from any institution that offers CPT from day one. CPT is NOT for working in some arbitrary job. It is for work as integral part of the curriculum. Legitimate CPT is very rare. Abusing CPT from this or similar institutions will kill your future in the US. The bottom line: Forget CPT. Cut that acronym out of your vocabulary!
rahul412 Posted May 14, 2015 Report Posted May 14, 2015 Forget about CPT stuff, if not you will be deported. Haven't you heard about Tri VU?
rahul412 Posted May 14, 2015 Report Posted May 14, 2015 But one thing is clear, this school is still abusing CPT.
cal_new2007 Posted May 15, 2015 Author Report Posted May 15, 2015 but they have all proper classes and review process and they say CPT is part of their Master or MBA program? so i am confused why it would be fraud? Also attendance is compulsory ..i dont think its same as TVU.
JoeF Posted May 16, 2015 Report Posted May 16, 2015 They claim all that, but they give out CPT to anybody, and they admit on their website that CPT is not an integral part of the curriculum. They hide it a bit better nowadays, but they continue to abuse CPT. Stay away from them. They are a fraud similar to TVU. People who attended that fraud get RFEs and denials left and right. Find a REAL university. And FORGET CPT. Abuse CPT like from that fraud will kill your future in the US.

CPT from day one is 100% ILLEGAL. if you don't trust us, just contact any immigration attorney in US and ask him why people got arrested and deported for working in CPT.

Cut that acronym out of your vocabulary! You keep on saying legitimate CPT is very rare.Forget CPT. I do not understand your point of view here. I have participated in a CPT program during my graduate study. The CPT was very much aligned with the graduate program I was in. I was being compensated. The CPT program needed to be extended due to program requirement. I would like to believe that what I did was completely legit and would not want to forget about it . Definitely dont want to cut it from my vacab.

This would not be advertised to the world. It is just a requirement of the course. That's what legitimate CPT looks like. That is what being an "integral part of the curriculum" is. Blanket advertisements of CPT, like "you can take CPT after x quarters", with x ranging from 0 to whatever, are a big warning sign. Nobody can just "take CPT". Also, something "being aligned" with the program is not enough for CPT. That's a requirement for OPT. For CPT, the work has to be an "integral part of the curriculum". Pre-completion OPT is what normally is used for summer internships, which, like all OPT, have to be aligned with the course of study. If you worked with legitimate CPT, make sure you keep all documentation that it indeed was an integral part of the curriculum. USCIS may ask for that. Coming back to the topic of this thread, this particular institution has been giving out CPT to just about anybody, They used to openly advertise it on their website. They nowadays hide it a bit better, to appear legit, but they still say on their website that they give out CPT to anybody. That makes it abuse of CPT.

Joef: Now you are taking it to extreme when you say there are a few situations where a course requires internships and Universities should work individually with the students. I went to a ivy league and the university did not care about my internship but more to their endowment. Sad but true. I needed real world data for my research and a fortune 50 company gave me the opportunity. I am not showing off. But that internship was critical to my career and i am entitled to it. Now going back to these universities advertising. nothing is fair in this world. why should this be fair. I want more of these universities to come up for competition and if law takes its course so be it Thanks
