J1_EBC Posted May 11, 2015 Report Posted May 11, 2015 Here is my J1 Visa Waiver Timeline based on No Objection Statement. October- November 2014 - I gathered and sent all requirements for the application of No Objection Statement (NOS) from our government and at the same time did the application for DS-3035 online to obtain a Case Number. January 5 2015 - No Objection Statement application approved. January 12 2015 - Embassy forwarded NOS to US Department of State (DoS). January 21 2015 - I sent all documents to DoS (DS-3035, Fees, Statement of Reason, copy of DS-2019, 2 Self-addressed envelope, etc). January 29, 2015 - DoS website updated info that documents were 'Received'. February 5, 2015 - DoS website updated info that No Objection Statement letter was 'Received'. February 24, 2015 - DoS website updated info 'Favorable Recommendation'. February 25, 2015 - DoS website updated info that Favorable Recommendation was 'SENT' to USCIS. March 5, 2015 - USCIS received recommendation letter from DoS. March 9, 2015 - I received 'Favorable Recommendation' letter from DoS in the mail. March 10 2015 - I received I-797 Notice of Action from USCIS with Receipt No. Now I can check status online. April 6 2015 - USCIS website updated info to 'Approved' April 14 2015 - I received I-612 Waiver of Foreign Residence Requirement in the mail. It took 5 months for me to obtain a J1 Visa Waiver. I became very impatient of waiting at some point but I had to deal with it. My advise is to have a lot of PATIENCE. Good luck and I wish all of you success!
i612 Posted May 12, 2015 Report Posted May 12, 2015 March 5, 2015 - USCIS received recommendation letter from DoS. I am still waiting USCIS approval. They are too crazy slow to understand.
