HelpMeForum Posted May 6, 2015 Report Posted May 6, 2015 Hello, I've completed my Masters. I've applied for OPT over 2 months ago and my OPT date is set for May 20 2015. Looks like I might get an offer for a company soon and they may ask for May 20th as joining date becase I mentioned that when applying for the job. But, my OPT has not yet confirmed. Can I work prior to the approval ie., starting on May 20th? While I'm waiting for the approval of the EAD. Thank you.

shekar11# Posted May 6, 2015 Report Posted May 6, 2015 If this is your first 12 month post completion OPT, you cannot start working until you get the OPT card. If you start working then you will be working illegally.
