Hi

My employer has filed a h1b amendment for me on April 17th 2015 with Premium Processing and I received an approval on May 01 2015. I am travelling to India on May 07th 2015 and I have my visa interview on May 14th 2015.

I am not sure, if I will be able to get the original I-797 before i leave USA on May 07.

My question is, Do i need to carry I-797 original for the visa stamping or the receipt # will work. My attorney said, i should be fine even with out the original I-797.

Please advise. I have very little time to decide.

Thanks in advance.

What if you only have a receipt and I797 is still being mailed to the attorney, would that be acceptable at the interview?

As said earlier check concerned US consulate website. A copy is required for stamping.
