u_r_n Posted May 4, 2015 Report Posted May 4, 2015 Hi My employer has filed a h1b amendment for me on April 17th 2015 with Premium Processing and I received an approval on May 01 2015. I am travelling to India on May 07th 2015 and I have my visa interview on May 14th 2015. I am not sure, if I will be able to get the original I-797 before i leave USA on May 07. My question is, Do i need to carry I-797 original for the visa stamping or the receipt # will work. My attorney said, i should be fine even with out the original I-797. Please advise. I have very little time to decide. Thanks in advance.
jairichi Posted May 4, 2015 Report Posted May 4, 2015 Check US consulate website of Hyderabad. Mostly a copy is fine. Ask your employer to FedEx it to you immediately when they receive your approval notice.
pontevecchio Posted May 4, 2015 Report Posted May 4, 2015 In view of PIMS you can carry a copy if you choose. Even if you have the original they need verification from the PIMS System before they will stamp you.
rvg Posted May 5, 2015 Report Posted May 5, 2015 What if you only have a receipt and I797 is still being mailed to the attorney, would that be acceptable at the interview?
jairichi Posted May 5, 2015 Report Posted May 5, 2015 What if you only have a receipt and I797 is still being mailed to the attorney, would that be acceptable at the interview? As said earlier check concerned US consulate website. A copy is required for stamping.
