Hello,

My parents' GC was files in July and finally got my mom's I-485 approval notice yesterday (not yet for Dad but 130 approved). Seems card will take another 3 weeks. Due to the extended stay here because of USCIS delays (first they sent a 6 month delay email and then  we found dates after ours are being adjudicated and called the rep office), they have too many problems in India right now.  Aadhar card / Gas connection / EB / pension alive verification etc.. they have not received their pensions for several months.  Couple of them have some deadlines.

Can they travel immdly since the case is approved? like within the week...  I am traveling 3rd week of May and again traveling in August. I can bring their cards with me and give it. And when they come back, can they just use the card and come in?

Is there a problem with it?

As far as my reading of forums, AP, I-551 stamp etc are needed ONLY if you want to come in without a card. For folks who have the constraint of coming back to work within few weeks.

My parents do not have that constraint and can come back after card production and we give the card to them.

Thanks for the very quick replies!!!

I think in my posts, I confused between my mom and Dad. Just to clarify

Mom - I485 approved. No card yet. Approach: Travel to India one way this week. Wait for me to deliver GC and then travel back whenever she is ready and use GC to come in.  - no legal trouble with this?

Dad: I-130 approved - I-485 not yet.
Approach 1 - Wait for 485 approval and immediately travel to India after that and GC can be hand delivered - similar to mom approach. Timeline 1+ weeks. No idea whats happening on his application since its well past the processing date. Its with Orlando field office (we are in new england).
Approach 2 - Apply for AP now (which by mistake we unfortunately never did so far) and travel after AP approval. which could be atleast 2-3 more months.

If you see I-485 is approved. You can go to the nearest USCIS office with the reciept and get a temporary stamp in your passport for immediate travel. It will be treated equivalent to GC until physical card arives
