Can i travel back to US when my h1 amendment is in progress for new location?

Hi,

 

I am going to India for a one month vacation and i am presently in a project in Chicago when i return back in a few weeks i have to move to a different project in California.

 

I have a valid visa from my Chicago project, can i start my amendment filing process when i am in india, and travel back when it is in progress on my previous project petition.

As long as your project in Chicago still exists at the time of re-entry you are fine. If not then your amendment needs to be approved for you to travel back.
