rxv655 Posted April 29, 2015 Report Posted April 29, 2015 I am on H1B and my wife just got changed from H4 to F1. My employer has been providing the insurance for both of us. As my wife just changed her status to F1, she is technically not my dependent any more. So, is she still eligible for the insurance provided by my employer? Her school provides the insurance, but it doesn't start until August. She is already in USA now, but got her visa stamping done last month when we visited India (so in F1 status now). We are planning to use University provided insurance from August, but until then can I continue using my employer's insurance?
ashuneel Posted April 29, 2015 Report Posted April 29, 2015 I doubt University provided insurance will be anywhere close to your employer's insurance. She is still your spouse and can get family coverage from your employer. visa status has nothing to do with Insurance plan requirements.
