bv2006 Posted April 28, 2015 Report Posted April 28, 2015 Hi, I created a filled up a DS160 - signed and submitted for my visa stamping interview to Montreal. I also got a date confirmed with Montreal consulate. There might be a chance I will not go there and then want to schedule an appointment at Ottawa consulate. Do I need to fill up a new ds-160 and pay fee again ? or can I just let that old consulate on the confirmation page and show up at ottawa with that page. ( once the ottawa date is confirmed) ? please let me know . help truly appreciated.
ad2010 Posted April 28, 2015 Report Posted April 28, 2015 You can create a new DS160 (using the submitted DS160 , so you dont have to type again all the info ) and submit it to Ottawa and then modify the appointment info with new DS160 number. Then reschedule it for Ottawa. You dont have to pay fees again.
sivab Posted April 28, 2015 Report Posted April 28, 2015 As far as I know you cannot change the DS-160 after you submit. One consulate can port the DS160 from other consulate. you don't need to pay the fee again . I had Interview on april21 at Vancouver , My DS-160 is filed for Calgary . On the visa interview day ,Vancouver consulate had issue porting my information so they asked me to fill a new DS-160 form with out paying the fee . you can port the ds160 it might take one to two hours extra. if you have to go to Ottowa , for a safer side fill a new DS-160 form with out paying the fee just submit the application.you will get the confirmation id ; Incase if the consulate has issue porting your DS160 ; you can show your other DS-160 form. Please not your DS160 confirmation number. It will be useful to track your passport.
bv2006 Posted April 29, 2015 Author Report Posted April 29, 2015 great suggestions. I realised that I saved the .dat file to my pc when i did my first submit. I can upload that .dat file - and make the required changes to the ds-160 . so i guess, first I will look to find dates in ottawa , if i do , then change ds-160 - consulate location. go back and plug in the new ds-160 number in the appointment system. that should do the trick. thank you guys
shekhar575 Posted May 1, 2015 Report Posted May 1, 2015 Hi, similar situation for me too. DS160 started with Ottawa but date confirmed in Montreal. So, if take old DS160 (Ottawa) and new DS160(Montreal), i'll be fine or is there something should i do? Please help me out.
