Hello,

I a have H-1B visa counselling scheduled in this Dec-2014 at Hyderabad Consulate.

When i requested original document of the approval notice I-797A, my company's attorney replied that "consulates no longer require an original approval notice, a copy will be sufficient".

But I remember that i took original for my previous employer's H1-B counselling in 2011.

Please advice if the rules had changed and if a copy of approval notice will suffice.

Appreciate immediate response.

Thanks,

Pavan

What is H1B counselling? You meant Visa Interview? If its Visa Interview then copy should suffice but at POE they require Original approval notice. So technically you need to have H1B approval notice with you all the time.
