bpavan
Hello, I a have H-1B visa counselling scheduled in this Dec-2014 at Hyderabad Consulate. When i requested original document of the approval notice I-797A, my company's attorney replied that "consulates no longer require an original approval notice, a copy will be sufficient". But I remember that i took original for my previous employer's H1-B counselling in 2011. Please advice if the rules had changed and if a copy of approval notice will suffice. Appreciate immediate response. Thanks, Pavan Link to comment
jairichi
Have original I797. Even if VO does not mind a copy you might be asked for original at POE. Link to comment

So technically you need to have H1B approval notice with you all the time. Link to comment

JoeF
This has nothing to do with counselling. Consular Processing come from Consulate. Lack of English skills could result in problems. It is better to have original documents, although for most situations, copies are good enough. Link to comment
