GC process - on role change

Hi ,

 

  My employer is planning to start GC process for me through our internal attorney. In Mar 2015 my role will be changed(promoted) to and attorney told to wait till role change. 

 

Attorney says  GC process started and until it is filled there should not be any role/designation change otherwise it will need re-work of documents.

 

Is it correct?

GC is always for the future job. So I could not understand why you would need to wait until the promotion happens.
