Rakee
Hi All, I have a question related to health insurance/medical insurance, I have moved to a different job last year and from then onwards I haven't had a health insurance. Recently I heard that we should have minimum essential coverage and we may have to pay a tax penalty depending on our income level if we don't have a health insurance. Is that true? If so what is the minimum plan that I should have in order to avoid the tax penalty. Please advise. Thank you, Link to comment
JoeF
That is commonly known as Obamacare. If you watched any TV, you could not have missed that... Why do you not have health insurance? Do you think you can't get sick, or injured? All it needs is some traffic accident. Get insurance NOW! And not "minimum" stuff. On H1, you earn more than most Americans. You can afford decent health insurance. And you may want to look for a better employer, one who provides health insurance. Good employers provide health insurance for their employees. Link to comment
itsmeusa
IF yor employer is not providing you option to enroll in the medical plan, then you can shop yourself on that state's health exchange (a website dedicated to help general public to choose a plan). Once you enter your details, coverage level etc. it suggests various plan. You could choose any that suits needs. Link to comment
itsmeusa
Yes, if you don't have health insurance plan, you would be need to pay a file / tax ~ 1% of your household income. It goes on increasing until 2016. Link to comment
omshiv
your employer should provide you with a health insurance...if not change the fraud employer. Link to comment
