H4 to F1 Visa stamping: Studying in last semester with OPT approval pending

Hi,

My wife is studying in last semester of MS course but she didn't get chance to get F1 stamped. She has expired H4 visa on her passport but she has valid F1 approval notice I-797 from USCIS and I-20 from college. She already applied for her OPT to USCIS and its in pending status.

Is it safe to go for F1 Stamping to Canada/India considering the fact that she is yet to graduate and still studying but has applied for OPT and her last exam in next month?

It is always safe not to travel outside USA when the visa COS is in transit. It is safe to have your EAD, employment offer letter and couple of pay cheques and all the supporting documents in case you are planning to attend your visa interview. The problem with Canada is that if your visa gets rejected by any chance you may need to go to India directly and you can not return to US from CANADA-so please consider all the possible outliers and decide.GOOD LUCK!!
