EB2 - How long before we can apply for AP to travel?

My husband is here on L1, and my daughter & I are on L2 visas. Our visa expires in Aug 2014 (this month) but we have I94 stamped till 2016.

My husband's company will be applying for green card for us in the EB2 category. Two questions here:

1. From the time we apply through EB2, how long does it normally take till we can apply for Advanced Parole to travel outside the country? This is a big concern because our current visa will expire this month.

2. During the processing, if we leave the country and re-enter with a new visa, what happens to the GC processing during that time? Does it become void?

2. Nothing. L visas are dual intent, and don't impact his green card process in any way.
