Max stay during H1B Extension

Hello ,

 

I have a query regarding my H1B visa extension.

 

I came to USA in Oct-13 and in Dec-13 my employer filed an extension for it, as  I got my visa for only 11 months from (feb-13 to Jan-14).

 

On 4th Jan 2014 both my visa and I-94 expired.

 

As extension was already filed ,so i was waiting for it.

 

In Mar-14 i got an RFE for which my employer replied back in June-14 , since then I am waiting for the result.

It is still showing your response has been received and is under process.

 

Now my query is , How long I can stay in USA until extension  result comes out.

 

I have read over the internet that I can stay only 240 days 

from the I-94 expiration date i.e (4th Jan 2014), so as per this I have to leave the country before 4th Sep 2104.

 

Is that correct ?
