H1B Health Insurance - Open enrollment

I am currently in India, after completing 6 years on H1B My Perm and I140 are approved and I am waiting for H1B in PP. I am hopeful of returning to the US by May 2014, god willing.

My question is on health insurance. As per my understanding, the last date for open enrollment for any coverage in 2014 is March 31, 2014. Can I sign up online for me and my wife even though I am not present in the US now? I will be applying now for coverage that will begin in May 2014 and most likely I will be there by then.

Experts please weigh in.

think you would be still enroll it based on special circumstances but not sure, its a new program and some rules are still not clear

may be enroll for a basic catestrophic plan and upgrade it as per your needs when you come here, try calling them and sicuss your case
