Wife's H4 - Which US Consulate to pick

Hi,

 

I am preparing the application for my wife's H4 application. Her passport was issued in Jaipur, Rajasthan (fresh passport issued few months back). She will be attending the interview for the first time. She is currently residing in another state, Maharashtra (close to Mumbai). 

 

I am confused, as to which consulate to pick for her first visa interview? Earlier I thought, since she is staying in Maharashtra, Mumbai should be the first pick. But a lot of people have said, since her passport is issued in Jaipur, which is close to Delhi embassy, you will have to go with New Delhi Embassy. 

 

Kindly help me understand, as to which embassy I should go with.

Passport will be shipped to her to residence( if you select) and that needs to closer to consulate. So pick the consulate which is close to her current residence.

Thank you guys for replying. It made things a lot clearer. One more thing is, she is at her current address for less than 6 months. Does that make a difference? Will really appreciate your input.
