haritrk
Hi Folks, I work for reputed global IT organization in USA. My employer have presence in India, but it is not Indian base IT company. I am working with my employer for last 6 yrs, and past 1 yr in USA on L1B visa. As my visa expired, I came to Ottawa, Canada for visa extension. I had good interview with consulate on 18th Feb, 2014. But some how consulate put me in "Administrative Processing" category. I got white letter, no pink/blue/yellow slip. My passport is with US embassy, so I cannot go back to India as well. As I am visitor visa, I cannot work in Canada. I am just helplessly stuck in unknown country. My family is in US, just waiting for my return or go back to India. Now any of you know how much time US Embassy, Ottawa takes to clear admin processing? I looked different forums, but most of the cases I show were from US Embassy in India. Wait time mentioned in those forums just scares me. Please provide any information that you can. Thanks Link to comment

Wait for a few days to get an update from consulate. You can always get back your passport and travel outside Canada. But, if a positive decision is made to stamp your visa you need to return back to Canada to get your stamping. Link to comment
LoanSurvivor
is this new L1B visa or already approve extension? What all they ask in your interview? Mine is new L1B application and I have stamping in first week of march. As far as your passport is concernedI have read somewhere that you can email them and request your passport back. They will ask for it once they are clear with admin processing. Link to comment
haritrk
Thanks jairichi for response. Nope white slip didn't ask for any document. They just want to verify my employer - client relationship. Link to comment
haritrk
Thanks loansurvivor... no mine is not new L1B visa, it is extension of my existing L1B visa. He just asked routine question like - Who you work for? - Who is your client? - How my education is helping my work for client? - To whom I report? - Why your family is not with your for stamping? rahul412
- Why your family is not with your for stamping? So what was your reply here?? Technically, dependents cannot stay in US if their primary applicant's visa is pending. Anyhow your's query should be resolved in few days. Link to comment

Now waiting for further procedure. Hi Haritrk, I was going through many posts in this forum, and came across this. I didnt see the final update on this. Hope you had your issues resolved, and came back to US safe. These kind of experiances scares me because I am also planning to apply an L1B extension. Have couple of questions. The L1B extension you have applied, is it like a normal L1B extension from US (which goes to California or Vermont). Is it just Visa stamping you got it done through Canada? Is there any different process we have to follow to have the extension done in Canada? Thanks Ab Link to comment
