H4 Extension Approved but missing Approval Notice

Hi All,

 

My wife has her H4 approved, as shown by the website, but hasn't yet received her approval notice. FYI - We have the receipt, I-797 C. 

1) We can apply for the duplicate copy, which typically takes 3-4 months

2) Or we can travel outside the US and come back. In this case will it be a fresh H4 visa application or will the consulate be ok with the receipt notice and a print out of the online status?

She can travel and return with the H4 visa. . She will need to apply for the H4 visa with proof of your H1 status. Since she presumably does not have a H4 visa now it will be a new H4 visa application.

Ask you wife to travel outside and enter US with a valid H4 visa. She just needs a copy of your I797 to get her H4 visa.

The visa was approved about a month ago. 

Also, is travel to Canada or Mexico a good option? Thanks a lot people.

For first time stamping she cannot go to Mexico. Canada could be an option. But, home country would be my suggestion.
