Green card surrender--what is the process and what happens afterwards?

Hello,

 

I would like to know:

1. how difficult it is to surrender the Green Card after 1-2 years, and what is the process?

2. what are the implications (for example: can I apply in the future and will it be denied because of the surrender)

3. do I have tax liability (someone told me that even if I surrendered it before 5 or 8 years I still must pay taxes on income outside the US for 1 or 2 years afterwards!!!)

GC abandonment is done with form I-407.

All taxes owed have to be paid before giving up the GC.
