I got new h1 extn (Starting Validity Date: 02/28/14. Ending Validity Date: 01/01/16).... Now my question is when if I want to goto stamping, I need to after Feb 28 2014? My current h1b is valid until may3rd 2014 but i didnt went for visa stamping during that period. Now i filed h1 extension and it is approved and valid from may4th 2014 to 2017 may. I am planning for visa stamping this month itself. I have few questoions are: Which i-797 number (latest or current) need to enter in ds-160 form? Let say if i enter latest one(which is valid from may4th 2014) in ds-160 and attended visa interviwe and if they issue visa then i can travel back to usa immidiately or do i need to wait till may4th 2014? Is there any start date on visa stamp? My previous stamping was in yr 2006 and after that i never traveled out side USA. Please advise if anyone experianced similor problem? Link to comment

Enter the current I797 number is DS160 and show both I797s to VO. Link to comment

If i enter in to USA based on that visa validity what happens at port of entry ? if they issue i-94 based on visa then i have file/amend for new i-797 for i-94 .
