H1 extension based on PERM approval

Hello All

 

My PERM was applied 03 June 2013 and DOL is currently processing April applications. My H1 expires 01 Feb 2014. I am assuming my perm results might be out any time soon. Couple of questions and requesting suggestions:

 

1) Heard from someone that if perm is approved, h1 can be extended for 1 year. Is that true? I know that h1 can be extended if perm is pending. In my case with h1 expiring soon, this policy will really help.

 

2) Is there a grace period to leave the country after my h1 expires? What if I stay beyond my h1 time while I am waiting for my perm to clear or h1 extension, which stage of the GC process will I face problem?  

 

3) Since I will know about my perm any time soon, I was wondering if changing my status to B2 (tourist visa) is a good idea.
