L1 Extension - Max Out - Re-Entry

My current L1 A is expiring in Sept-2014 and my max out date is May 2016. However I plan to go back to India in September-2014. In case I need to come back to the US later end of 2015 or early 2016 what are my options?

 

(A) Do I apply for an extension of my current L1A - does my max out date get extended since I will not be in the US post Sept-2014.

 

(B) Do I need to apply for a fresh L1A - since I plan not to return at least for 1 year minimum.

 

Any guidance would be of great help.
