catdogcali Posted November 21, 2013 Report Share Posted November 21, 2013 Hello there, I have applied for a B2 visa last week, and got denied based on 214B, here is my background and VO interview: BG: - 29 Years old - System Administrator - Single - Own a Property - Working for the GOV for 8 years - 2 month US overstay back in 2001 - H1B denied 13 years ago for lack of college degree VO: Hi there! ME: Hi, good morning! VO: Why do you want to go to the US? ME: Tourism VO: Where are you headed to? ME: Los Angeles, California VO: Do you have any friends in the US?ME: No, nobody! VO: Who do you live with= ME: Girlfriend, we been together for 9 years! VO: Do you own a house? ME: Yes VO: Did you purchase it? ME: Yes VO: When? ME: Sorry I was nervous, I did not purchase I got it from my dad who passed away back in 2009. VO: OK, you told me you got friends in the US where are they? ME: No maam, no friends in the states I'm going for a week of vacations! VO: Do you have a work letter and pay stubs? ME: sure (handled em to the VO) VO: VO looks VO: How much do you earn in USD? ME: $5K month mam VO: OK, good VO: You been abroad before? ME: NO VO: Never?ME: I thought you asked in the last years, yeah I been to Canada and the US back in 2001 VO: Why did you stay in the US for 5 months instead of 3 allowed by your VWP? ME: I was too Young and I went there to do snowboarding and going to concerts until Is tarted college in my countryVO: types a lot for minutes.... VO: I'm sorry I cannot give you a VISA today ME: whats the reason?VO: Handles 214B paper ME: OK, thanks, can i request a Waiver? VO: No waiver is needed for you! ME: Can i re apply? VO: Yup... ME: Have a nice day VO: You too I plan on re-applying, I do know I have a pretty solid Job in my country, I do own a house, I have been working for 8 years in a stable and pretty well paid job, I think the VO was not convinced and I probably could have explained here the places I was planing to visit when she asked where and why I was going to the states... What do you guys think? Think there is a reason to overcome the 214B? Thanks! Lots of red flags. 1. Previously denied H1B. Potential immigrant. 2. No friends in US. 3. No strong ties. Just owing a house is not enough in my opinion. 4. Are you really being paid 3 lacs/month? 5. Overstayed in US with no valid reason. Link to comment
