aryan.007 Posted October 31, 2013 Report Posted October 31, 2013 Hi friends, A consultant/company from USA applied H1B visa for my friend who is currently in country A. My friend had personal issues and before signing the agreement, given by the consultant, my friend clearly informed them that he will be able to travel to USA only in JAN/FEB 2014. 10 days after signing the agreement, my friend got call from the company and they were forcing him to travel to USA in OCT 2013 itself. To which my friend politely said that since he has personal issues he can only travel in JAN/FEB 2014. Recently my friend has got legal notice from a lawyer in country A. Stating that a company with similar name registered in country A is asking for compensation of about $10,000 because my friend could not travel in october 2013. My friend never signed any agreement with the company in country A. He was not even aware of its existence. He only signed the agreement which was between him and the company in USA. The company in country A could be branch of the company in USA. But does it allows them to ask for compensation ? Do you think its legal to ask for compensation in any other country based on the agreement signed for the company in USA? Any input will be very valuable. Aryan
