Ram Harish Posted October 29, 2013 Report Posted October 29, 2013 I'm going for H1-B visa stamping in my country (India) in November 2013. My H1B is approved until Sep 2016 and My passport is valid until Jan 2017. I'm looking at my document checklist and in that it says "Your passport that has an expiration date of at least 6 months beyond the intended period of stay". Is it mandatory? If so, then I think my passport should be valid until at least May 2017. Do I need to worry about this now? Do I need to postpone my stamping date and apply for my passport renewal? Please help me.

You should be fine. How can you request now for a passport that is expiring on Jan 2017?
Tjgarla Posted November 5, 2013 Report Posted November 5, 2013 You are good. You only need 6 months of validity of your passport to have the stamping done.
