I came in 2007 for my Masters. Then transferred my sevis to the new university for my PhD. My Visa got expired in June 2012. I am planning to visit India and get my Visa stamped in my new University name. I have a valid I20, a valid passport with expired Visa.

Questions:

1. Can i travel through any airlines or is there any exceptions ? I heard that British airways would not allow you to travel through UK.

2. When I re-appear for my US visa should I be getting a new SEVIS or the old SEVIS transferred to the new university name is sufficient?

3. How safe is it to get re-stamping. As I am hearing the VIsa stamping process for PhD in Bioengineering, Biochemistry, chemistry, and all these fields are taking long amounts of time to process.(Not to mention my friend is going through that for more than 2 months and 2 week now in Delhi).

Thank you,

1. You cannot travel through UK, Germany, Canada as they require a transit visa. Travel through Paris (http://www.consulfrance-washington.org/spip.php?article383) or middle east or across pacific.

2. I believe SEVIS ID is unique. I think it has to be transferred. Check with your DSO.

3. No one can predict that. Just be confident and answer specifically to questions in one or two sentences.

Good luck.
