Cbasu Posted October 29, 2013 Report Posted October 29, 2013 My father is 75 y/old and we plan on getting his greencard application filed thru' my sister who is a citizen. He does not have his birth certificate in India and I was informed that we can proceed by getting a certificate from the Indian embassy in the US. Can anyone confirm if that is indeed true ? My father is currently in India and will be in the US on a tourist visa in March 2014. Also is it possible to initiate this process while he's in India or does he have to be in the US at the time of application. Thanks,

Thanks, I believe you can submit an affidavit from a competent authority in your home country.
