nivesvitkona Posted October 28, 2013 Report Posted October 28, 2013 I'm an Indian citizen, working full time for one of the Big 4 Accounting firms. My visa status changed from OPT to H1B on Oct 1st. I'm planning to travel to UK for Christmas. I need to know if I can get my H1B stamped at a US Consulate in London? How long would it typically take to finish the process (I'm there for only 10 days) ? Is it advisable to get it stamped outside your home country, or is India the safest bet ?
zealot Posted October 29, 2013 Report Posted October 29, 2013 Yes you can get it stamped in US. Don't know about the time period but if you consider 10 working days then should be fine assuming 1st day or 2nd day of visa interview. India is still safest bet anyways if visa rejected or new documents requested then you have a home to stay and can easily arrange anything from your employer.

Tjgarla Posted November 6, 2013 Report Posted November 6, 2013 Nives.. Uk may be a bad choice . Normally the process h1b for Indian citizens who is working in uk or something like that . I have read a lot if reviews that the USA consulate officers stating to go to the home country and getting it stamped. . The only option I see is go to Jamaica or Canada and get the visa stamping done and then travel to uk.
