salunkepratik Posted October 21, 2013 Report Posted October 21, 2013 Hi, I was going through couple of posts and came across something about Drivers license needs to be of the same place where you currently work at? For my instance-- i work at my clients place (Michigan) but i have my DL from Ohio... do i need to change it to Michigan? or it does not matter atall?
sreddy1 Posted October 21, 2013 Report Posted October 21, 2013 I got my visa approved on Oct 3rd VO asked me for DL particularly . Its better to have DL from the state where you reside currently
ajaysharma Posted October 21, 2013 Report Posted October 21, 2013 I've personally never heard of this (I know that doesn't answer your question directly, but at least tells you that in my instance I have never come across this issue / question). I've held multiple H1/L1s in the past and in some of those instances my DL wasn't in the same state as my location. Not due to the client/EVC model issue but for other reasons (like relocation, taking some time to change the DL, returning to the country and so on). I've never encountered this as part of questionnaires (DS-160, lawyer paperwork, H1 papers) or visa interviews. But then again, a sample of 1 != "this is the answer"
H1BJourney Posted October 21, 2013 Report Posted October 21, 2013 If your current residence is Michigan, how can you have DL from ohio? Think logically. you need to transfer your license if you move state.
gopalakrishnach Posted October 21, 2013 Report Posted October 21, 2013 I guess you need to have Michigan DL. Even though the address maynot match but State has to match. For example, in my case, California doesnot issue new driving licenses when you move from one apartment/home to other. We just update our address in our DMV records.
salunkepratik Posted October 22, 2013 Author Report Posted October 22, 2013 Thank you everyone for all thier inputs. i will have my License Changed asap .. thanks again :)
