I Have a job offer. New employer 'B' wants me to join once receipt notice is received.

While I tried a lot to get an employer who would wait for H1B transfer approval but it was not possible as no one is ready to wait for that duration. Now I am planning to switch with receipt notice but wanted to know some opinion on is that a normal case ( like do people normally change job while transfer is not completed ). Thanks.

What would be your status when employer B's petition gets denied and employer A has revoked your H1B?

jairichi, Thanks for replying. I would be 'out of status' if Employer 'B' petition gets rejected. Which means I have to go back to India in that scenario. However my employer 'B' says it is a rare scenario. Also I talked with some friends who have changed job while h1 transfer is still in progress. My question is generic.  Is it a standard practice to change job with only receipt notice, which majority of people do ? Thanks.

Yes, if you are desperate and have no other option.

jairichi   Appreciate your replies.

1. I have heard 70-80% of total job changes that people make, they do it with receipt only. Do you have any idea about this.

2. I tried for last 8-9 months to find a company that will wait for H1 transfer to be completed. But no one including the big consultancies like Randstad/KForce are ready to wait. ( atleast in my case ). Agreed that I am little desperate to change now as things are not going great my current company. While I don't see them sending me to india soon, I have no clue what will happen if things continue to be so.

3. Also something that make me little comfortable is both the comp I am leaving and the company I am going into  are big companies.

Again thanks for your responses. Hopefully I would get through it.

1. No. As there is no official survey results published by any source.

2. I know it is not that easy to find new employers. But, my suggestion was to let you know the downside of it. Do not feel hurt.

Good luck. Hope you get your new H1B approved.
