sundi133 Posted October 9, 2013 Report Posted October 9, 2013 Hi, My passport got damaged in the washer, although the information on passport are visible, but the photo on the first page got fully damaged. the photo on the VISA got damaged but still recognisable. I have applied for a new passport in San francisco. I am right now in OPT and also got selected for the H1b Visa. My question is when I go to India this time, i have to get my passport stamped with H1B, will it be a problem then if i have two passports with one VISA (photo bit damaged) and the other one with no VISA. What should I do , do I need to get the F1 Visa again ? What are the problems I might face ? Thanks Sundi

shandan Posted October 10, 2013 Report Posted October 10, 2013 Well it is what it is, you go for stamping and explain if asked why it got damaged, from my experience during my H1 stamping my old passport was asked as they needed to cancel the existing F1 visa on it and stamp it cancelled, so good luck with it. But seriously dude, passport washed in washer ?? What do you think your credibility will be infront of the visa officer, you are standing there asking for H1B and having a passport washed ?
t75 Posted October 10, 2013 Report Posted October 10, 2013 Of course you need to have a damaged visa document replaced.

I guess OP must have kept his Passport in his Pants and forgot to remove it and there it went in the washer...thats terribly irresponsible....dont tell this to Noone.
sundi133 Posted October 10, 2013 Author Report Posted October 10, 2013 relax guys, First of all thanks for your valuable response, bad things happen, its just a part of life, worst case it would have been lost.
sundi133 Posted October 10, 2013 Author Report Posted October 10, 2013 Of course you need to have a damaged visa document replaced. What do you mean by this , can you explain in details, My scenerio is: when I go back to India, I would do my H1 stamping, and no longer require the F1-Visa, since it does not exist/ or exists with bid bad photo but all other details in it, then thats not required to be cancelled as was the case for shandan Thanks

Just explain the truth to VO. Just go on with your H1B visa application process.
