Alex.K Posted October 9, 2013 Report Posted October 9, 2013 Hi all, I have Bsc. in computer science and I wold like to move to USA. What are the key steps to obtain H1B visa ? Should I first find a sponsor, or should I contact a law firm ? Thanks, -Alex
omshiv Posted October 9, 2013 Report Posted October 9, 2013 First find an employer who is willing to sponsor your H1B...stay completely out of shady fraud employers as they will be involved in all shady activities and will take money from you to file H1B, which is illegal and ultimately you'll land in trouble. you dont have to find law firm..your employer will do your H1 filing...probably find a fulltime employment and not the typical shady percentage wise....stay away from them!!!!

You need to find an employer who is willing to offer you a job and file a H1B petition.

jairichi Posted October 9, 2013 Report Posted October 9, 2013 My B.Sc. is a 4 years degree. So my best scenario is to find an employer willing to file H1B for me ? Ok. Yes, you need to find an employer
rahul412 Posted October 9, 2013 Report Posted October 9, 2013 My B.Sc. is a 4 years degree. So my best scenario is to find an employer willing to file H1B for me ? Yes, that's correct. But do not sign any kind of agreement before reviewing it thoroughly and do not pay single dollar for your H1 processing.
Alex.K Posted October 9, 2013 Author Report Posted October 9, 2013 Ok. Yes, you need to find an employer Does law firms that practice immigration law assist with job hunting and H1B paper work if you hire them ? Or it is better do it by yourself ?
pontevecchio Posted October 9, 2013 Report Posted October 9, 2013 Depending on where you are from your best bet is to either come over for further studies or get a job with Companies in your country who do send their employees in H1 status here.

Or it is better do it by yourself ? Law firms assist companies with H1B petition process and not getting a job for you. Do what pontevecchio says.
Alex.K Posted October 9, 2013 Author Report Posted October 9, 2013 Pursuing M.Sc. at the age of 30 is a bit too much for me... But I do work for an american company, I'll try to find out if they willing to relocate me to USA. From what I understand this process is qualified under L1 visa, that bound me to keep working for this company with H1B you can switch employers.

Your employer could file a L1 or they could file a H1B next April. Look at USCIS criteria for both.
