Change of Status F1-H4 processing time

Hi,

 

I have applied for COS from F1 to H4 in August 2013. F1 will expire in end of October. Change of Status is still in initial review.

 

I have few questions:

 

1. what is the processing time of COS from F1 to H4?

2. Can I stay in US if F1 expires?

3. Can I apply for new I-20 while COS is pending?

2. As long a decision is pending with USCIS about your F1 to H4 petition you can.

Is USCIS processing cases as Government shutdown? My Visa has expired and I have not heard anything back from USCIS about case. it shows initial review. How long can I stay in the USA?

 

if I apply for new I-20, will I be able to renew F1 visa here in US?

USCIS is working. With the time frame required for a COS you are looking at approval somewhere in late October or early November or later
