I-485 and Health Insurance

Hi.

If I bring my parents here on visit visa and file for GC with I-485, will it be a problem?. Also, can I get a good health insurance (not those visitors one. but good one like BCBS) while on I-485?

Ofcourse you can for both.

Are you a US citizen? Only US citizens can sponsor their parents.

If they enter as visitors and an I-485 is filed soon after, there may be problems due to the question of intent.

Yes, as a citizen you can file for your parents. In the past getting regular insurance was expensive (lack of history in the US) and new GC holders were not eligible for Medicaid immediately. However now with ACA/Obamacare the options for new GC holders may be better.

I would be interested to learn about the experience of folks who are trying to get insurance through the new health insurance exchanges (in the states that have set them up). Thanks!

The eligibility for Medicare/Medicaid has not changed with the ACA.

Depending on your income you can apply for subsidized health insurance through the Health Insurance Marketplace. All US citizens can do this. The government website https://www.healthcare.gov/ tells you more and you can find out about the marketplace in your state.
