H1B 7th year stamping in chennai consulate

Hi All

 

 I have my h1b valid until 2013 nov end and have the visa stamped until nov end 2013, i have applied for the 7th year extension and planning to visit india during november, just had few questions regarding this (im FTE for last three years and had stamped for same employer for the second extension) and was wondering if some one could throw some info

 

1. can i go for stamping for my new h1b in november before start date of new h1b

2. say if my new h1b gets approved in october and go for stamping in november first week, would my info be in chennai consulate reflected correctly..im worried if they would put my case to admin processing

3. can i avoid drop box, i have new passport as my old one expired, so thought its better to drop by in person rather than doing drop box

4. if i go for drop box,how long after putting in drop box do we happen to know the status of visa

5. what documents would they ask for 7th year extension (labor, 140 ?)...ive been through regular visa stamping without labor and 140 and this is my first stamping after apply for both ?

Yes you can go for stamping 6 months prior of date expiration.

It shoudn't be problem because even thou EAC number chanes, beneficary number remains same.

This program was introduced to aviod stamping again if you are working for same employer or you have passed one yr from the expiration date.

They are quick in responding the thing 3-5 business days

Yes they will asked for I-140 approval because you have already passed 6yrs in H1.

Had a similar case - 7th year extension based on approved I140, FTE with employer. Kochi Team Stanley office, and Chennai US consulate.

 

4. Dropped off passport and docs on July 31 afternoon and passport was delivered on August 6. You can check status online. Initially it will show administrative processing after consulate receives it, but in two/three days, if there are no issues, status changes.

5. The only docs Team Stanley accepted were:

          a. Passport original (all old and current)

          b. 2 Passport size photos

          c. Copy of I797A extension

          d. Copy of I 797A previous (based on which previous visa was stamped)

          e. DS160 Confirmation Page

          f. Dropbox confirmation page
