whoami191
Folks, on the misc consular services application form which needs to be filled out for certifying the Passport to apply for ITIN - at top right page there is a section for passport size photograph. Question is for certification do I need to put the pp size photo or not required?I am planning to send my documents via post to the embassy. I called NY embassy but nobody is responding to get clarification on this.Anybody has any idea? Link to comment
aru27
I have applied for ITIN for both my kids. We had to go with our kids to broadway office in downtown, NYC. http://www.irs.gov/uac/ITIN-Authenticating-TACs-Link http://www.irs.gov/uac/Contact-My-Local-Office-in-New-York http://www.irs.gov/uac/Services-Provided-New-York-City Here are the 3 links... Check the last link Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers and Form W-7 (click on more info) You need to take all original docs... It will not take more than 15 mins.. Now its not even tax season. Link to comment
whoami191
Thanks Aru27, did you go to IRS office or Indian Consulate in NY? My question is about the application form photo for Indian Consulate for certification of passport. Link to comment
aru27
Ok here is the process... I went to IRS office with my kids. IRS broadway office in downtown, NYC. The kids have to be physically present. W7 form and all passport n visa i94 in original form etc. They are authorized to attest. They will look at the originals and the form submission is also taken care. Check out the links i provided for the nearest IRS office which has the service. Its very easy. No need to get anything attested/do any application form from NY consulate. Its a very tedious thing. Since you have time for the next tax filing try out the IRS office one. Link to comment
