not2stop Posted September 18, 2013 Report Posted September 18, 2013 Today morning I got a call form USCIS stating, I'm Officer so and so, and just got few question on your H1B VISA. 1. Are you still on H1B VISA? 2. What is your work location? 3. How many hours you work for a day? 4. Are you in office today? And the call was over. Later the day, I got a call back from same person, stating I'm in your office lobby can we meet in person? When I went to see him he should his badge, and want to check my cube at work location. We came to my desk and I informed my HR and Supervisor on the same. USCIS Officer what to have a short discussion with me on my employment and we went in a conference room, where he pulled a file with all my H1B filing documents and started firing questions. Once we are done, he want to meet with my supervisor and asked question on my job title and job description. Once the discussion is over he cam to my desk, took picture of my cube where we had my name board. And before leaving he asked to send below documents from my official email ID and mentioned the case will be closed after further review. 1. W2 2. Pay-stubs 3. ID card and Business card copy He also mentioned this random check will be done for H1B VISA petitions during the discussion. ---------- What will be the next step?
jsk423 Posted September 20, 2013 Report Posted September 20, 2013 Did you file for new H1b or H1b Extension? Was it approved or still pending at that time?
veer2009 Posted September 20, 2013 Report Posted September 20, 2013 usually this is nothing to worry about, I have got this sort of visit about 3 years ago when I had applied for H1b extension. They just want to veify that the company exist. the elderly gentleman who had come to audit our place informed us that there are some companies who fake their location, sometimes it is an apartment of some individual or it may not be a company at all... I got my H1b visa approved after that visit. As long as you are legally working in the same position and duties that you have filed for it should not be an issue
not2stop Posted September 20, 2013 Author Report Posted September 20, 2013 I got my H1 transfer to a current employer 3 month back.
