H1B without payroll

I am on H1B.I work for Company A and it asks me to go back to India. I want to quit Company A and search for a job and to take care of H1 transfer. How long can I stay in US without a payroll? Basically looking for the grace period that US law gives me to stay in US without a payroll till I get another job

There is no grace period..once H1 is revoked you'll be Out of Status. Either do a COS on B1/B2 or if you are married then get on H4 (if your spouse is on H1).

Zero days. You could apply for a change of status (COS) to B2 to hunt for a job.

Their is no grace period. If you are eligible for dependent status then go for it and look for next job.

Admissions for fall are over. Classes have started already.

It takes several months for admission.

It is a bad idea to try to go for an F1, because the person would be out of status.

F1 for students not for employees. If you want to go to school then go for F1.

 

What will be your answer when vo asks " why did you wanted to work when you applied for F1?". Do you have answer for that??
