Approved H1-B portability

Hi,

 

I am on H1-B with an approved I-140. My visa expires Oct 2013 (6 years). My company has filed an extension for 3 years and the petition has been approved. I have not got my new H1-B papers yet. My wife is on H-4. I have the below questions:

 

1. My company is going through a rigorous lay-off process. Worst case, if I lose my job, what are my options to stay in USA?

2. What happens to my green card application and my H1-B petition?

3. How long do I have to find a new job? If I don't find a job by that time, can I change to tourist visa?
