Docsprak Posted September 16, 2013 Report Posted September 16, 2013 Hi, I have few questions regarding my situation and looking for your valuable advices. Case: Me and my husband got married in the USA. My last name and permanent address on my passport is same as the one before my marriage.(I.e. my maiden surname and my parent's address). We have marriage certificate issued from USA state. Visa status: I changed from f1 to j2 to h4(presently) Husband did j1 waiver now on h1b approved from his employer. Situation: we plan to go to India for a short visit and also get our visas stamped there. Questions: 1- which consulate location should I go for stamping. My permanent address is near to Delhi but my husband's consulate is Mumbai? Does it matter based on different permanent addresses of both of us or can I go with him to Mumbai consulate for stamping? 2- what is the procedure for h1b stamping in India? 3- what documents do we need for stamping? 4- how long does it usually takes for the stamping? 5- In my case are there any pros of going to Canada and getting stamped? Will much appreciate your responses.
omshiv Posted September 16, 2013 Report Posted September 16, 2013 1) Mumbai Consulate should do. 2) Check the Mumbai's US Consulate site. 3) Check the Mumbai's US Consulate site....just carry all H1/H4 related documents. 4) Check the Mumbai's US Consulate site. 5) Nope..all Consulates are the same. Also go thru this forum to find out more about the documents list and also people posting their experience on stamping.
