H1B renewal stamping in India

1. My current H1B visa expired on 01/28/2013 and my current I797 petition is expiring on 10/31/2013.

I applied for a H1b extension and the new I797 indicates that it is valid between 11/01/2013-10/31/2016.

My wife's current visa (H4) expires on 10/31/2013.

We are travelling to India on 10/11/2013 and planning to get the visa stamping in the week of 10/14/2013.

Now the question I have is whether I can go for visa stamping with the new I797 before the expiration of the previous I797 (10/31/2013) ?
