amarvakity Posted September 12, 2013 Report Posted September 12, 2013 Hi All, My name is Amar from India. Now living in Denmark since 6 months. I have 3 years software testing experience in India from March 2010 to Feb 2013. After that i came to Denmark on work permit in March 2013 for job search and luckily i applied for H1b and got approved. Currently i'm not working anywhere. So i have 6 months gap. Now the problem is while i'm filling DS 160 form, there is a field like Present Work/Education/Training. For this, what should i mention and what to be selected from the Primary Occupation drop down list. Do i need to select "NOT EMPLOYED" or any other. If i select Not Employed option, is it will be any problem for visa stamping as there is a gap of 6 months. Please experts i need your precious replies on this question. Thanking You, Regards, Amar
amarvakity Posted September 12, 2013 Author Report Posted September 12, 2013 If i select 'Not Employed' option, is it will be any problem for visa stamping as there is a gap of 6 months. I heard that h1b visa is only for the people who are currently working and have required skills for the position applied. But in my case i'm not working, so is it going to be a problem?

You need to have education and experience relevant to a speciality occupation for which an H1B petition is filed

amarvakity Posted September 13, 2013 Author Report Posted September 13, 2013 So if i select "Not Employed" option; then its not going to be a negative impact, isn't it? And do i need to write anything under the box given when i select this option or should i mention N/A because i can't leave it blank. Do i need to write why i'm unemployed for these 6 months.

If you are not employed just select that option, that's it. It won't create any impact unless and until it is related to US immigration.
